the waiting gameThe waiting game started the moment I got to St. Lukes bgc. We were on the dot, November 1, 2016, Right on time. Well, so we thought. We decided to not alarm our parents yet because I decided today might be the day as soon as I started waking up to my contractions. I had an easy pregnancy and didn't really go through morning sickness and bad braxton hicks so when these contractions were out of the ordinary, I woke Paolo up to prepare, took a shower, did my eyebrows (just in case we were in for the long haul hahaha), grabbed our hospital bags and dashed. It was 7 or 8am and we got there in 10 mins! No one freaking prepared me for the pain. Not from the pushing or the the epidural, but from the contractions. I cant even explain what I felt. Its like... I don't know.. like being stuck in traffic on the freeway having to take a crap badly (sorry but I have to be honest ahehehe) but you cant and will have to hold it in for 5 more hours. That plus someone stabbing you on your lower back over and over again. I felt like giving up my 9 months of hard work for those first 3cms. Yes, 3cms. The longest 3cms ever that lasted for 4 or 7 hours. I forget. All I remember was me shushing my mom because she was breathing too loud (not really but I guess I was in that much pain that every sound annoyed me) and having my husband stay by my feet so I can kick him! hahahaha Now I get the movies. As soon as I got to my 4th cm I was allowed to get my epidural. I've never been so excited to get injected. If you don't know me, I dread injections but on this day, I was so happy to see the scariest needle ever, I didn't budge, it was H E A V E N. After that the whole labor was a breeze. Finally, after 15 hours, I reach my 10th cm which meant I was ready to start pushing. The anesthesia slowly wore off but the pain was tolerable so my OB suggested I try pushing without the help of the anesthesia first. After pushing for a few they decided to give me some anesthesia (not because of the pain but just in case hehe) and still no improvement. Leia would go out a bit and after pushing she'd slip back in. Playing peek a boo so soon (ahehehehe). We were doing this for 40 mins which was when my OB finally decided to cut me open. She told me its been a little too long of pushing and kawawa Leias head. She also said sorry to me but hello, do what you gotta do! The doc knows best! whats best for the baby is all I care about. Pao had to step out as they were preparing the room and sterilized everything. They added a curtain below my chest covering the lower part of my body as well. While he was out they were doing prick tests to see if I could feel anything before they cut me... I was panicking of course coz I still felt the needle after every prick! hahahaha! When Pao got back I started to panicking coz I suddenly felt nothing waist down. It felt like an elephant was sitting on top of me!! Im claustrophobic so I started to hyperventilate. My arms were tied I guess to keep some panicky patients from touching their stomachs during the procedure so I asked to be untied and I had Pao distract me by showing photos he took the whole day while chewing on a damp cloth. I passed out for a few minuteS and woke up while they were pulling Leia out. I felt the tugging but no pain. I hear a cry, they place her on my chest and the rest is history <3 p.s. despite the rule of the limit of visitors in the waiting area, thank you fambam for hogging the entire place and throwing a party while waiting the entire time I was in labor! love you all! hahahaha
